Pihamaa Estate & Winery
Pihamaa Estate & Winery is located in the heart of Häme, one of the most beautiful counties of Finland. Häme is know for its lake district with crystal clear waters and breath taking scenery. The estate itself is one of the oldest in the region and is still operated by the same family. Nowadays the main source of income comes from wines, berries and fresh vegetables.
Berries & Vegetables
Best months to visit are July and August as you can buy freshly picked berries; the sweeties strawberries, rasberries and blackcurrants. In addition to berries and fresh vegetables, Pihamaa Estate also offers an impressive range of other locally produced goods; cheese, flowers and handicrafts. The products are sold in a renovated farm house which is worth a stroll.
Don't confuse Pihamaa wines with "homemade" wines! For example Pihamaa Sparkling Wine is produced by the "method classique" - the same as the ever famous Champagne. Pihamaa Winery has received numerous recognitions from the Finnish Culinary Society. The wines have won several medals in the yearly competition between all Finnish wineries.
Café & Food
A visit to the cozy and romantic Pihamaa Café is highly recommended. It is in an attic of an old barn and serves homemade pastries accompanied with coffee or other beverages from the farm. A cup of coffee and a home made "munkki" is a must! If you want to taste the wines before you buy, Pihamaa Café or Winestube are perfect places to find your favorite wine, sparkling wine, cider, liqueur or pontikka - the famous Finnish moonshine. All the products under 13% vol.alcohol are sold in the Winery shop.
Lunch or dinner can also be arranged, but it requires a few days notice. Please contact Pihamaa Estate & Winery.
